Bus Stop #7, Lightner Creek Campground, Durango, Colorado

We have been camped out at Lightner Creek Campground for the past three nights.  It is a wonderful campground located in a canyon only a few miles from Durango.  Our campsite is right beside a beautiful babbling stream that is flowing strong with snow melt.
After spending most of Thursday getting around on Public Transportation while the bus was getting a scheduled repair, we decided that a hike would be the order of business for Friday.  It was a typical Colorado Rocky Mountain blue sky kind of day.  We traveled a few miles in the bus on a dirt road not far from where we are camping.  We chose the shorter of the hikes, the Dry Fork Trail, which was about 5 miles there and back.  Now we know how the bus feels climbing these steep grades at this altitude, around 8,000 ft.!  Like the bus, we went very, very slow!

I renamed this trail "Dandelion Sweet Memory Trail".  There were dandelions everywhere and it brought back so many memories of when the children were little.  They would come running to me with such big smiles on their faces, saying "Look Mom, we picked you some flowers!"
